you have more than one pedicab?
Yep, we have two now, with more on the way!
Our second baby was used as a prop for the movie Joy Luck Club:
An elegant MIC monster, heavy from cast iron and steel. Should last another 60 years til 2069
.
Built "the way they used to make them" in China circa 1952. Obtained September 2009.
so tell me how this all started?
Had the idea in 2007 and finally bought a pedicab in late 2008.
I've lived abroad and enjoyed taking non-standard transport to get around (non-standard from an american perspective, esp for people born between 1950-1990).
Three-wheel motorcycle taxis, streetcars, trams, gondolas, horse carriages, horses...
how are people liking the whole pedicab experience?
lovin' it!
how much does it cost to get a ride
Between April 2009 when we launched and as of January 2010, it's been Free/Tips Only. this greatly aids fare calculations and introduces people to a novel mode of mobility. Lastly, it's a way to "give back" to the community and not be uber capitalistic.
do you "cater" events?
would love to. For bike-lovers' weddings, movie shoots, whatever. In fact, we've already catered a wedding!
Give us a ring or email.
are you insured?
Of course. You'd be crazy (or in another country) not to be. I think that will change over time, maybe decades. We'll probably start to "lose" insurance as a meaningful tool within two decades.
how do you select your routes/coverage area/territory?
There are lots of cool places and neighborhoods in Oakland that aren't fully appreciated yet, or are up and coming, up-and-came and there's fun stuff to drink, eat, do and see in downtown Oak.
are you HIRING?
As soon as we work through the Workers' Compensation process. If you want to be a backseat driver, get in touch through our contact us page.
is your site ugly on purpose?
I learned html 3.1. i'm lazy but like clean sites. the real "flash" is out in the streets!
